Hi 4th graders,
Here’s a not too diffcult task for those who would like to participate:
GIRL BARRED FROM THE STORE
The case of Jilly Woodward, a fashion-conscious girl , who was not allowed to enter Harrods in torn jeans she had bought in the very same shop a day before seems to be pretty ironic . Why?
Are dress codes necessary or should we be allowed to wear what we want at any occasion /location?
Do we wear what we like or what the fashion industry dictates?
How far do you agree with the statement that “we are what we wear”?
And remember it’s your opinion I’m looking for, not your mistakes. Express yourself freely!
Here’s another task: The story about Jilly is not told in chronological order, so there are several examples of Past Perfect Tense to make it clear what happened first.
Now, try to work out the chronological sequence of the events of the story . And mind, this time you use Past Tense all the way through because the events follow as they actually happened.:
1. p – 1989 – the dress code was introduced
2. e - Jilly stayed in London
3.
4.
Now your turn. Good luck!
